Brief: Gain insight into Mauritania’s traditional desert learning where poetry is not an ornament but a method; living verses that carry sacred knowledge, sharpen memory, and transmit love of the Prophet ﷺ across generations.

Dr Abubakar Sadiq Abdulkadir is a lifelong student of sacred knowledge. He was trained at the hands of scholars at traditional Islamic centres of learning in Damascus, Syria and Mauritania. He obtained a PhD specializing in African and Islamic history from the University of Alberta, Canada. Currently he is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto, Canada, where he teaches classical Arabic literature and researches on Arabic poetry, Qur'an exegesis (tafsir) and the Islamic ways of learning and knowing (Islamic knowledge transmission and education).
