These workshops are open to anyone looking to begin drumming alongside the singing of qasā’id and nasheeds. The techniques you’ll learn can be applied across a range of instruments, including the daff, darbuka, and djembe. Drumming has long accompanied nasheeds, qasā’id, and devotional songs from across the Ummah - passed down through generations as a living tradition. This is your chance to be part of that legacy.

Teacher Bio
Aliah first began teaching during her time as a student in South London where she worked as instrumental teaching assistant for a local children’s music and arts centre. Giving communities access to creative and cultural opportunities is her passion. She now facilitates workshops and lessons across North Manchester on the daff and djembe drums. Her sacred drumming workshops incorporate a mix of both Arabic Iqa’at rhythmic theory and Western Classical music theory. She is a student of Robina Din from Mystic Beats drumming school.

These workshops are open to those who have completed a level 1 beginners' course and wish to further develop their drumming skills alongside the singing of qasā’id and nasheeds. Participants will explore more advanced rhythms and techniques that can be applied across the daff, darbuka, and djembe.

This workshop will teach you the details of Jannah and how it is described by Allah. It will take you on a journey towards understanding the divine promise that lies at the heart of a believer’s journey to Allah and it will teach you that Paradise is both a future abode and a guiding principle for living a righteous, purposeful life.
This workshop also includes an art activity that will train you to be a person of Hudoor ul Qalb (presence of the heart and mind) so you use the description of Jannah as a grounding technique and nurture a sense of peace and contentment in your life.

Understanding Tawassul
Join us for a three-part reading of Imām Muḥammad Zāhid al-Kawtharī's Refuting the Fabrication on the Matter of Tawassul, one of the most important modern treatises defending the orthodox Sunni understanding of tawassul.
Through a careful reading of the text, students will explore the evidences for tawassul from the Qur'an, Sunna, and the inherited practice of the Muslim scholarly tradition. Along the way, we will examine some of the most common objections raised in contemporary discussions and gain a clearer understanding of this often misunderstood topic.
This programme forms part of our Rasāʾil Readings Series, dedicated to studying concise yet impactful works from the Islamic scholarly tradition.
