Sacred Roots Children’s Madrasa

Sacred Roots is a three-day evening school dedicated to sowing the seeds of faith, knowledge and good character in the hearts of young children aged 5-12. Through consistent teaching, positive relationships and love of the Quran, we seek to raise children whose faith-based education in their early years serves as a solid foundation for the rest of their life, much like a healthy tree rises high from well-watered and nourished roots.

Our Programme

Our dual-focus Quran & General Islamic Studies program consists of the following:

Quran

Children progress from recognising Arabic letters and reading the Qaʿida to reciting the Quran with proficiency. They are also supported in memorising essential surahs for prayer and daily devotion.

Note: We use the Madinan (or Uthmanic) script for teaching.

General Islamic Studies

Children follow an established curriculum that covers the foundations of faith, worship, the life of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, Quranic stories, duʿas and character development.

Objective

Upon completing Sacred Roots, we hope that children will:

- Recite the Quran accurately, fluently, and with confidence

- Understand essential religious knowledge

- Know fundamental chapters, supplications and remembrances by heart

- Develop good manners, ethics and simple character-building skills

Our children are exposed to holistic methods of teaching that engage the “wider-brain”, integrating active reading, listening, and writing, as well as individual and group learning exercises. All our teachers are DBS-checked and competent in delivering the dual-focus program which is segregated into four ability-based levels.

Timetable

Sacred Roots is a three-day madrasa, running on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 17:30-19:30.

The standard teaching day involves both Quran and General Islamic Studies with a supervised break in between. Since Sacred Roots only runs for three-days, punctuality and attendance is strictly necessary. Thursday, although a formal holiday, is integrated into the week as parents are encouraged to bring their children along to the evening majlis which takes place at Sakina House.

Fees

£450 for the full academic year, payable in three termly instalments of £150.

(A £20 enrolment fee applies. Any required books or course materials must be purchased separately.)

The deadline for completing this form is: Deadline for enrolment: Sunday midnight, 11th October.

Once enrolled, parents will be invited to an induction evening where they can meet the teachers, learn more about the curriculum and expectations, and ask any questions before the programme begins.
