Join us for a three-part reading of Imām Muḥammad Zāhid al-Kawtharī's Refuting the Fabrication on the Matter of Tawassul, one of the most important modern treatises defending the orthodox Sunni understanding of tawassul.
Through a careful reading of the text, students will explore the evidences for tawassul from the Qur'an, Sunna, and the inherited practice of the Muslim scholarly tradition. Along the way, we will examine some of the most common objections raised in contemporary discussions and gain a clearer understanding of this often misunderstood topic.
