Quarterly Digest: Jan - April 25’

Alhamdulilah the start of 2025 has been a busy time at Saeed Institute. We welcomed scholars from abroad, held various events and courses, hosted our first Taraweeh prayers at Sakina House, and embarked on our first ever retreat abroad. As we approach the Summer months, we wanted to reflect on the year so far and reflect on the immense blessings we’ve witnessed.

January 2025

We were honoured to host Shaykh Faiz Amir from Ribat Institute as he delivered his insightful Funeral Rites course. Attendees were shown how to wash and shroud their deceased as well as being given practical advice from Shaykh Faiz’s wealth of experience in this topic. This is a communal obligation for every Muslim community and so we thank Shaykh Faiz for sharing his insights and knowledge with the Bolton community.

February 2025

February saw us welcome Shaykh Dr Salāh Abul Hajj from Jordan to Saeed Institute. Shaykh Salāh is one of the leading Hanafi jurists around the world and we were joined by students from across the UK who attended our weekend courses on Understanding Hadith in the Hanafi Madhab and The Relied Upon Opinion in the Hanafi Madhab. We also hosted our first event in London at East London Mosque as Shaykh Salāh discussed contemporary fiqh issues.

March 2025

Ramadan saw Sakina House host our first Taraweeh prayers. We were led in Salah by our young local Hufaż; Hafiz Rayyan, Hafiz Muhammad Zaid and Hafiz Yusuf. The community came together for weekly iftars where we benefitted from mutual companionship and reminders from Shaykh Siddiq.

April 2025

Our inaugural Journey with Purpose retreat to Jordan took place in April. We were blessed to spend 10 days in the company of true inheritors of the Prophet ﷺ including Shaykh Ismail al-Kurdi. Jordan is a land where numerous Prophets and companions are buried We were afforded the opportunity to visit many of their resting places including Prophet Shuayb, Prophet Yusha, the martyrs of Mu’tah and Sayyiduna Muadh b. Jabal (May Allah’s peace be upon them all) to name a few. The blessings gained from these visits, as well as the companionship of Shaykh Ismail and our hosts in Jordan left a lasting impact on those who attended. We thank them for the honour they showed us and their immeasurable hospitality.
